October 2, 2018 4:53 am

Sugar Research Institute former chief executive Sanjay Prakash, charged with three counts of corruption related offences, appeared in Lautoka Magistrates Court today.

Prakash is charged with one count of obtaining financial advantage and two counts of general dishonesty causing a loss.

It is alleged when he was the acting chief executive of the Sugar Research Institute in Lautoka he obtained a financial advantage of over $26, 000.

It is also alleged Prakash caused a loss by instructing the transfer of $26, 000 from a paid account knowing it would incur a substantial risk of loss to the Sugar Research Institute.

It’s also alleged that between October 2015 and May this year he dishonestly caused a loss of $3,500 to the company.

A $2,000 bail bond has been set for Prakash who provided two sureties.
