Former bank officer pleads guilty to charges

A former bank officer with the Fiji Development Bank pleaded guilty to corruption-related offences in the Suva Magistrates Court today.

Joji Cavalevu was charged with one count of obtaining a financial advantage by the Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption in November last year.

He admitted to misrepresenting the terms and conditions of an approved loan to a client which enabled him to obtain $4000 between October 2017 and 2018.

The summary of facts was then read by FICAC State Counsel Sera Fatafehi, to which the Defence counsel requested that time be given to properly go through it.
