Food Voucher Scheme to be reviewed

The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation will be reviewing the Food Voucher Scheme.

Minister, Mereseini Vuniwaqa, says this will ensure the new allocation under the scheme is properly utilised.

“There is also a strategy for the ministry to review current cases to make sure that those who are currently receiving still fall into the eligibility criteria for those programmes.”

The ministry is working on all pending applications for the Scheme.

Each household that qualifies for the scheme will now receive fifty dollars.

The food voucher for rural pregnant mothers has also increased from $30 to $50.

The Food Voucher Scheme received an allocation of $1.7m and is more flexible.
