The Health Ministry has directed all food handlers at Ratu Kadavulevu School to be tested for typhoid.

This comes after seven students fell ill last week and are showing suspected symptoms of Typhoid.

Spokesperson – Peni Namotu says a ban is in place for the sale of any food item on the school premises.

At this stage what we can say is no cases has been confirmed in the school but then this will be determined by the test that’s been conducted on the individuals and also the food handlers. Further action taken is that we’ve stopped food handlers that usually sell on the school premises and also we have stopped the students from going on leave.

The students including food handlers at the school are awaiting the results of their tests before further measures will be taken.
