Foneology to assist in E-ticketing

September 3, 2012 7:35 pm

Mobile phone company Foneology has been selected to assist Transtel in the e-ticketing program that’s to begin today.

Transtel was initially hired for the program on our buses, but it can’t run it on its own anymore as it does not have the capacity to store data.

Land Transport Authority spokesperson Alfred Wiliame says Foneology was selected after an evaluation.

“It’s just a matter of the capacity that they have, compared with Foneology. What we’ve gone through with them is that discussions are in place to ensure that they can work together in this whole process.”

Wiliame says Transtel will still oversee the whole project.

“The project teams intentions are to make sure that there’s one sole back office provider.”

Non-subsidised students from eleven schools in the central division will be using e-tickets from this afternoon.

The program will be extended to other parts of the country soon.
