Fodder program to improve milk production

The Agriculture Ministry has introduced a ‘Fodder Program’ to help the dairy farmers.

The Fiji Cooperative Dairy Company Limited has prepared eleven packages consisting of farming equipment for distribution to 11 groups with each group having three to five farmers under the program.

Agriculture Minister, Inia Seruiratu says they are aware of low performance in the dairy industry.

He says the industry has been hit hard due to the Brucellosis and Tuberculosis outbreak and the program has been designed to give farmers a boost.

-"The intention and the plan that government has in is the recovery process that we want to recover aggressively in terms of getting rid of these two diseases and at the same time improve the breed and of course improve milk production.”_

The eleven groups that will be assisted this year have been selected from different supply base of FCDCL which covers Mavua, Burebasaga, Tailevu, Waidewara and Naitasiri
