Acting Police Chief of Operations, ACP Maretino Qiolevu is urging students to focus on their education and not to indulge in any activity that will later spoil their future.

This comes after a video surfaced on social media showing a group of students in uniform smoking cigarettes.

Qiolevu says parents play an important role in ensuring they’re aware of the whereabouts and activities they’re children engage in especially after school.

“Let us focus on education especially on trying to educate ourselves. This is a time when children tend to explore more on things happening out there on the ground but just remember some of these habits will in in fact spoil your future and also affect how we do things especially on education.”

The National Substance Abuse and Advisory Council is advising students not to indulge in substances that can be harmful to their health.

NSAAC Chief Executive, Manoa Senikarawa says they will still continue their awareness programmes to help students understand the effects of drugs.
