The Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) has signed an MOU with the Fiji National University.

The MOU agrees to encourage and promote collaboration in the areas of research, education and faculty development.

FNU Vice Chancellor, Professor Nigel Healey says the signing of the MOU is an achievement for the University showing the commitment we all have to the betterment of human life through relief of suffering that comes about from unexpected and severe illness and injury.

“Emergency medicine is still a young specialization, the Australian Health Minister approved the recognition of emergency medicine as a principal of specialty only in 1993 and in Fiji we are still building up this specialism with the support of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM).”

ACEM is the peak body for emergency medicine in Australia and New Zealand, responsible for training emergency physicians and advancement of professional standards.
