April 13, 2012 2:45 am

Fiji National Provident Fund Chief Executive officer, Aisake Taito gave evidence in the case against former CEO Olota Rokovunisei who is charged with extortion of funds and abuse of Office.

State prosecutors asked Taito to explain his role and responsibilities under the FNPF structure to which defence lawyer Samanunu Vaniqi objected.

Vaniqi told the court that the line of questioning should not have any effect to the structure of the FNPF.

However state prosecutors re phrased their question and asked Taito to explain his role and responsibility over the five divisions he heads.

Taito told the court that when an executive resigns and the post is vacant he has the right as the head of the fund to take the responsibility.

However his duties and responsibilities as CEO will not change.

Defence lawyers are expected to cross examine Taito this afternoon.
