Flour Mills of Fiji has now clarified its position with regards to biscuit exports to Australia.
In a release to the South Pacific Stock Exchange, FMF says the Biscuit Company had a significant reduction in export sales to Australia from March to May.
The drop was mainly in export of third party private label products to Australia, which have since returned to normal.
It says the workforce is made up of fixed-period contract employees who are engaged only when there are high orders.
They are not needed when the volume of work is low.
From mid May 2012, the Company has re-engaged nearly 90% of these workers.
