FMA budget submission

The Fiji Manufacturers Association hopes current economic policies will remain in place come 2016.

Interim president Daksesh Patel says they have asked the government to maintain its polices on the manufacturing sector while asking for a level playing field that encourages continued investment.

“Having a low taxation policy is also good because it encourages more savings for the private sector that directly leads to more investment. We have encouraged the government to make the infrastructure more efficient – particularly in the electricity side of it because power shortages is one of the problems that we are currently facing in the manufacturing sector and we hope the government will address that with the right measures so that it becomes more efficient and projects are not delayed due to lack of electricity.”
