FLP files candidate nomination forms with FEO

October 12, 2018 7:05 pm

The Fiji Labour Party filed 25 candidate nomination forms with the Fijian Elections Office yesterday afternoon.

Party Parliamentary Leader, Aman Singh says they will file the rest of their candidate nominations next Monday.

“It’s simply because the process takes time and if we had file everything on Monday, we would not have the opportunity to confirm or clear any issues so it was important for us to file the 25, and whichever candidates or whoever we file later on will be done on Monday.”

Singh says they are confident that the 25 names filed yesterday will get approval from the FEO to stand for election next month.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says they have accepted FLP’s nomination forms.

“We have accepted the documents and we are now processing it to determine the qualification requirement as per the electoral act.”

Saneem says they will complete the vetting of SODELPA and NFP’s nominations forms today and FLP to be completed tomorrow.

Fiji Labour Party is the fourth political party to file their nominations with the FEO.

The rest of the political parties have until Monday 12pm to file their nominations.
