The National Fire Authority officers are currently helping residents of the Waila Feeder Road in Nausori to higher ground.

Flood waters have been affecting the area for the past two days having not fully receded.

Resident Lalita Prasad says the current situation is worse than other days.

“From Sunday we are experiencing heavy rain and the area is flooded. Flood waters have entered almost sixteen houses here. All the adults and kids are just staying indoors since Sunday as we cannot travel anywhere.”

Residents have blamed poor drainage as a cause of flooding.
