Flood warning now in force for some areas

A flood warning is now in force for low lying areas adjacent to Naqali and Waimanu rivers.

According to the Fiji Met Office, the water level at Naqali station at 2pm today was 3.9 metres which is 0.4 metres above warning level and increasing.

For the Waimanu station it was 5.13 metres at 2 this afternoon which is 0.13 meters above alert level and increasing.

A flood alert remains in force for all low lying areas and areas adjacent to small stream and rivers in the Central and Eastern Divisions.

A heavy rain warning remains in force for Yasawa, Mamanuca and Lomaiviti group, Eastern half and interior of Viti Levu, Nothern Lau Group, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.

Localized heavy falls may lead to flash flooding for low lying areas.
