Flood warning in force

A flood warning is now in force for the low lying areas, small streams and areas downstream of Ciri station of Tuva River in Sigatoka.

A flood alert remains inforce for the low lying areas and small streams; for Vanualevu, Northern and eastern parts of Viti Levu; and areas downstream of Nasivi station to Tavua town; and areas downstream of Vatukacevaceva station to Rakiraki town.

The Fiji Meteorological Department says the level at Ciri Station was 2.69m at 9.00am which is 0.19m above warning level and increasing.

An active trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain remains slow moving over Fiji.

It is expected to affect the group until tomorrow.

Flood warning in force

A heavy rain warning remains in force for the whole of the Fiji group with subsequent flooding from the continuous rain expected to continue until tomorrow.

Acting Director of Fiji Meterorological Service – Misaele Funaki says a flood warning is now in place for Rakiraki town, Ba river, Sigatoka river as well as the Nadi river.

Funaki says the heavy rain is attributed to the two tropical disturbances with TD15F and TD14F within the system and is expected to continue throughout today and tomorrow.

A flood alert remains in force for all small streams, creeks and low lying areas adjacent to major rivers for the whole of Fiji.

A strong wind warning remains in force for the Yasawa and Mamanuca group, western half of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu and nearby smaller islands.
