Flood alert in force for low lying areas

A Flood alert is now in-force for the low lying areas, small streams and areas adjacent to the downstream of Vatukacevacava Station.

Levels at the Vatukacevaceva Station was 1.28 metres at 3PM which is 0.28M above alert level and increasing.

Meanwhile a trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain is slowly drifting eastwards.

The Fiji Meteorological Services says the trough is expected to ease by later Tuesday.

However between today and Tuesday, people can expect occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms, over most places.

Localised flash flooding in the low lying areas are expected.
