Flash flooding in Western division due to heavy rain

Police officers have been deployed to certain parts of the Western Division as reports of flash flooding is being received.
Chief Of Operations, ACP Rusiate Tudravu, says as the officers are assessing the areas vehicle owners are being urged not to cross flooded areas and children should also not to swim during this time.
ACP Tudravu has confirmed that areas like Rakiraki, Ba, Tavua and Nadi are flooded.
“We are urging members of the community at large if they can make their way up, to higher grounds especially those that are living near the river banks, as weather is not favourable enough. We still have daylight and their officers are also going around.”
Meanwhile in Rakiraki low lying areas including Qallau, Waimari and Nokonoko are under three feet water. Rewasa Mid Road is closed to all traffic.
In Tavua, parts of Tavua Town is under water, Matacawa Bridge, Yaladro flat and Balata flat are under water,
The water level is rising on Yasiyasi Bridge and Nadolodolo Bridge.
There has been continuous heavy rain in Vatukoula from this morning but no reports of flooding as yet.
In Ba, Vatulaulau road, Namosau Bridge, Rarawai Bridge and Raviravi Post are under flood waters.
Kings Road Yalalevu is half closed. Tuvu and Maururu Bridge are unsafe for travel
Heavy rain also continues in Lautoka.
Tavakubu Road near the Girmit Center and Drasa Avenue, Buabua Road, Naikabula Junction, Field 4 junction, Vomo Street Opposite Leonidas Street and Matawalu Bridge are flooded.
In Nadi, water level at Navo Bridge and Qeleloa Bridge are rising.
