Flag demand rises with RWC fever

September 19, 2019 4:35 pm

The Rugby World Cup means high demand for national flags and the retailers predict the same for this year.

While many Fijians are yet to fly the flag at their homes, the rugby fever is expected to spread as the Flying Fijians will face the mighty Wallabies in two days.

C.K. Patel and Company manager Jitesh Patel, says it’s not just the Fijian flags that people are buying.

“Mostly Fiji flags are in demand but we also have like other countries so they are taking their favourite flags. And also workplaces are having their own things – like we have a few people coming and taking flags for other countries because they have competition at their workplaces.”

Patel says they began stocking up on the flags three months ago as past trends show rugby fans rush in the last minute to buy flags.

Meanwhile, FBC News has sought clarification from the Land Transport Authority whether motorists can fly large flags on their vehicles, but it is yet to respond.
