Five students in custody over brawl death

Five Nauru nationals, all secondary school students – are being interrogated by the police over the death of a Tongan university student over the weekend.

Police Chief of Operations ACP Rusiate Tudravu says they are investigating all leads they have in relation to the death.

Well I can confirm that we have five students who are attending secondary schools in Fiji from Nauru that are in police custody at this moment has continued. However if any charges are to be laid will depend on the result of the post mortem and statements of witness in which we are currently undertaking.

22 year old Sione Tufui was pronounced dead at the CWM Hospital on Saturday morning after he was allegedly involved in a brawl on Friday night.

Tufui was a second year student doing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems and Physics at USP.
