Five men in custody for alleged drug possession in separate occasions

A 35-year-old farmer of Cawaira is in police custody after he was found with sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana at the Labasa Market yesterday.

In the Southern Division, a 20-year-old farmer of Mataso village in Kadavu is in police custody after he was arrested in Vunisea with parcels of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

And in another arrest made in Kadavu, a 32-year-old farmer from Namalata is also in custody at the Vunisea Police Station after he was found with seven parcels of dried leaves inside a plastic bag believed to be marijuana.

Meanwhile, in Nadera two men were arrested following a raid at a home in Nawanawa on Sunday where loose leaves believed to be marijuana and one clear plastic containing crystals believed to be methamphetamine were seized.

The seized substances have been sent for analysis as investigations continue.

All the suspects remain in custody.
