The Fiji Electricity Authority is developing a new Grid Connected Solar Energy Plant in Qeleloa, Nadi.

Acting chief executive, Eparama Tawake says this project is expected to generate five megawatts of solar energy for Nadi.

Tawake says the Authority is currently in discussions with shortlisted prospective bidders to further develop this plant.

He adds the project is expected to commence later this year with an estimated completion of six to twelve months.

FEA has set a target to become ninety percent renewable by 2025, this is also in line with Government’s vision to be hundred percent renewable by 2030.
