Five escapees identified

The names of the five inmate who escaped from the Medium Corrections centre in Naboro at 8.30 last night have been released.

The five men are Isoa Waqa, Solomoni Qurai, Tevita Sugu, Josaia Usumaki and Epeli Qaraniqio.

Qurai is serving life for murder while the others are serving lengthy terms for violent robberies.

Police and Corrections officers are now on a joint operation to recapture the escapees.

The Fiji Corrections centre is reminding the public that harboring inmates is an offence under the Corrections Act 2006 and the penalty is a two year prison term or $5,000 fine.
