First ever eTransport top up machines launched

Thousands of bus commuters will now be able to top up their eTransport cards easily.

This is due to the vending machines being installed at the Suva, Nausori and Nadi Bus stations.

Two vending machines have been installed at the Suva Bus station while one each in Nausori and Nadi.

People will be able to use one and two dollar coins and notes between five and one hundred dollars to top-up their cards.

Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, says they want to make the lives of Fijians easier.

“We want everybody to have access to electronic transactions. We want to make life easier for you. By having e-ticketing cards also it helps government know which buses, which routes and in which areas more people get on the buses.”

Meanwhile, Vodafone Fiji Chief Executive Pradeep Lal, says more vending machines will be installed in other areas.

“We will be rolling out further vending machines in Sigatoka, Lautoka, Ba, and Labasa bringing the vending machine to ten machines which will be rolled out in the initial phase.”

Lal says three-million dollars have been invested into the installation of these machines.
