The first ever payment through the Accident Compensation Commission in the Western Division was made in Nadi today.

Accident Compensation Commission Fiji Chief Executive, Parvez Akbar, says they are paying $75,000 each to the family.

“Praneet, Josua and Joseph can never be replaced. However, as a result of the introduction of the Accident Compensation Act 2017, we are in a position in Fiji since January this year, to provide assistance and support during this very difficult time and hope this will provide comfort to you and your families.”

While receiving the compensation, father of Underwood, Wilfred Underwood thanked everyone who had helped him get through a difficult period in his life.

“I thank each and everyone for helping me in getting through this pain which I’m still going through. I would also like to thank the schools that Joseph attended, Korovuto College and Ratu Navula College and the people of Korovuto for giving a place for Joseph to rest.”

Meanwhile, 86 applications have currently been lodged with the Accident Compensation Commission Fiji (ACCF) to date regarding personal injuries.

These will be finalized upon the completion of the medical assessments.
