The new first-class emergency department and the surgical theaters have begun operation at the Lautoka Hospital.
This will improve the services and infrastructure for patients in the Western Division.
Health and Medical Services Minister, Rosy Akbar, says this is a milestone achievement as it fulfills their promises to the people of Lautoka and its surrounding areas.
This is the second designing building project that the ministry has been engaged in as similar works were carried during the extension of the CWM Hospital in Suva.
“Improving or extending our infrastructure does not mean we encourage Fijians to live an unhealthy lifestyles. Our aim is to provide you with the best gears and best services when you need it.”
The new facility also has an isolation room with patients of infectious diseases and a psychiatric room, a first for Fiji.
