The National Fire Authority successfully stopped a fire from spreading to three neighbouring houses in Labasa this morning.

A fire truck from Seaqaqa Fire Station was also dispatched to the scene to assist in putting out the fire.

It is believed the fire had started from the top floor of the house which contained three bedrooms.

The house belonged to a kava vendor and he used the ground floor of the house to store his kava stock.

A woman was at home when the fire had started and managed to escape safely.

Her husband was away with their son whilst their daughter was at a neighbour’s place.

NFA will be conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
