A double-story house along Khalsa Road in Nasinu was fully destroyed in a fire yesterday afternoon.

Resident, Lanieta Laveta says she was sleeping when her children woke her up as they started to smell smoke emanating from the bottom flat.

Laveta says the fire started at around 3pm.

She adds everyone was able to get out safely before the fire ravaged the five-bedroom house.

Laveta says the team from the National Fire Authority responded quickly to their call, however, they weren’t able to stop the fire as the house was near an EFL post.

She added the strong wind also led the fire to spread quickly and the power-line above their house also caught fire.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
