Firefighters managed to contain the fire at NewWorld supermarket in Shalimar Street in Raiwasa, Suva this morning.

Acting Divisional Fire Officer Central, Iferemi Vesikula says the fire started after 8am and the firefighters were at the scene within seven minutes.

He says they received two calls in relation to the fire.

Vesikula says they were able to contain the fire within twenty minutes.

No one was injured.

When the firefighters arrived at the scene they saw that the supermarket side was on fire so we started off with our extinguishing and firefighting operation

Investigation to determine the cause of the fire will begin soon.
