15 people are homeless following a fire which destroyed two homes in Kavika place Naulu, Nakasi this afternoon

Fifteen people are homeless after a fire destroyed two homes in Kavika place Naulu, Nakasi yesterday.

The fire is believed to have started from a two-flat house which quickly spread to a near-by double-story house.

More than a dozen firefighters responded to control the blaze.

Owner of the house Edwin Sen says he is fortunate that his family were able to escape the burning house unharmed.

“The fire spread very quickly. I was worried about my kids and children. But I am very fortunate that all my family members successfully came out and were unharmed.”

Neighbour Zaid Dean says they were quick to help in whatever way possible to put out the fire.

“I saw the neighbors running with the hose and buckets. The neighbors tried to stop the fire however the fire got worse and we couldn’t have contained it without the help of fire officers.”

No one was injured in the fire incident.

NFA investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
