Fire at a Labasa restaurant contained

Firefighters respond to the fire incident which broke out at the Oriental Seafood Bar and Restaurant in Labasa Town

A fire which broke out at the Oriental Seafood Bar and Restaurant in Labasa Town this afternoon has been contained.

Firefighters responded to the fire incident at around 2pm.

Witnesses say they saw smoke coming out of the restaurant.

Shoppers and workers of Nambawan Supermarket located beside the restaurant had to be rushed out.

Police has cordoned off a portion of Jaduram Street temporarily to allow fire trucks through and for firefighters to do their work.

The restaurant has also been cordoned off as police and fire officers’ conduct their investigation into the cause of the fire.

The building belongs to Labasa businessman Charan Jeath Singh.
