FIRCA to assist 436 businesses in the West

Close to 436 businesses in the Western division that were affected by the recent floods will have their tax penalties waived.

Fiji Island Customs Authority (FIRCA) chief executive, Jitoko Tikolevu says the decision was based on a report on the current status of business in the west, especially in Nadi.

Tikolevu says this is an effort by the authority to assist business owners who are really affected by the recent disaster.

“It was evident from the findings of the assessment report that majority of the businesses did not submit their tax returns on time as the first flood hit the country in early January.”

And as business owners were still trying to rehabilitate the second flood hit again with more intense in the western division especially Nadi.

The is among three other initiatives FIRCA has put in place to assist tax payers in Fiji pay up their dues as we continue to rehabilitate from the recent flood.
