Financial grant by Japan to improve schools and towns

The Japanese Government has provided close to eight hundred and forty-five thousand dollars, split amongst three primary schools in the Western division and the Nausori and Levuka Town Councils.

Recipients were the Nadi School for Special Education, Sunshine Special School and Lovu Sangam School in Lautoka.

While receiving the grant, Lovu Sangam School Head Teacher Anjili Ratnam says the grant will be used to construct four new classrooms to replace those infested with termite over the years.

‘’We were in urgent need of assistance and its timely I would say and by 2016 academic year the four classrooms will be ready’’.

Since 1990 Japan has provided assistance to grassroot communities in Fiji through 332 projects with a total value of over three hundred and eighty million dollars.
