Ten journalists from Fiji and eight from Papua New Guinea have returned from a weeklong visit of the Guangdong Province of China.

The visit organized by the Chinese Foreign Affair Office aimed to promote exchange and cooperation between the Chinese and Fijian media.

Deputy Director Li Kang says they want to showcase various innovative projects undertaken by their government through media.

“Media carries a good responsibility to let ordinary people or the general public know what our government is doing. So by this we can take advantage of the media to express and to expand the information to the people on what’s happening here.”

In just six days, the eighteen member media delegation travelled from the East Bank of the Pearl River Delta to the West Bank of the region – which included three cities Guangzhou, Shenzen and Zuhai.

Guangdong is China’s oldest and the most populous province is located on the South China Sea coast.
