Fiji/Indonesia police to further enhance cooperation

The delegation heads of the Fiji Police Force and the Indonesian National Police have agreed to pursue avenues to further enhance cooperation in light of threats of emerging crimes.

The members of the two institutions held their 4th Bilateral Working Group meeting in Nadi yesterday.

The Fijian delegation was led by the Acting Deputy Commissioner Itendra Nair while the Indonesian delegation was led by Senior Superintendent Jimmy Agustinus Anes.

The two delegation heads expressed their satisfaction on the ongoing state of cooperation.

In 2011 a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Preventing and Combating Transnational Crimes and Enhancing Capacity Building was signed between the two parties and extended in 2016.

Both sides encouraged the sharing and exchange of information including provision of technical support on investigations regarding Transnational Crimes particularly Trafficking of Illicit Drugs, Terrorism, Cybercrime, People Smuggling, Human Trafficking and Money Laundering.

The meeting next year will be held in Indonesia.
