The FijiFirst party filed its provisional candidate’s nomination list with the Fijian Elections Office yesterday.
Party General Secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says they have given everything that is required of the party before it is being vetted by the Elections Office.
“We have filed our nominations for the 51 candidates together with our $51,000 which is $1,000 payment by each candidate and of course the declaration by each candidate in respect of them you know wanting to stand for elections.”
Sayed-Khaiyum says they will have to wait for the Elections Office to vet their provisional candidates before they’re approved to contest the election.
He says once this is done, the party will then declare the assets and liabilities of each individual candidate.
Meanwhile, FijiFirst is the first of seven political parties contesting the election that has filed their candidate nominations list.
Other political parties have until next Monday to files theirs.
