Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the consultations will be an opportunity to hear from all Fijians.

“It will take place for at least a month or so, a month and a half then we’ll come back and collaborate everything together and come out with a five year development plan plus a 20 year plan. We need to have a visionary plan and a specific short to medium term plan so when we go and talk to development partners and multilateral organizations we can say look guys we want this type of funding.”

Organizations including community groups and civil societies are also invited to the consultations. Separate meetings will be held with large non-governmental organizations at a later date.

Consultations in the Eastern Division will be on June 29 and the Northern Division on July 9th.

Consultation times and venues will be updated on a weekly basis in the dailies.

The Finance Ministry which will be conducting the consultations will be in Rewa and Naitasiri in the Central Division while another team will be in Nadroga, Ba and Ra in the Western division today.
