“People may have misinterpreted and if they go out to collect beche-de-mer, they will be on the wrong side of the law and they will be prosecuted for it.”

The Minister adds they need to ensure the sustainability of beche-de-mer.

In September 2017, the Ministry enforced a total ban on harvesting, purchasing and sale of sea cucumber.
