The Outgoing Fiji’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom has commended Fijians living and working in the United Kingdom.

Solo Mara says the Fijian community continues to grow as they pursue better living, education and career and ever since he took up the post in 2011, he has been actively engaged with them.

“They’re also important in terms of promoting Fiji and raising Fiji’s profile in the UK. They’re also important in terms of investing in our local economy, they’re redirecting their earnings abroad in savings and superannuation funds and that goes a long way in sustaining them for the future.”

Mara now takes over as Fiji’s Ambassador to the United States – one of the world’s leading economic power-houses and an influential political capital.

Mara is also accredited to Canada and Mexico.
