Fijians in remote communities receive medical services

May 21, 2018 5:14 pm

Even though health services are decentralized to cater to the rural and remote areas, many people still find it difficult to access medical services when they need to.

To address the issue, the Sathya Sai Service Organization of Fiji along with a team of doctors and health professionals from New Zealand are currently providing outreach clinic services in a number of communities.

General Practitioner Dr Amrit Lad says the mission means giving back to the community.

“We doing it for ourselves also as most of us we come and so this voluntary work, we go back we feel energized, refreshed and happy and satisfied that we have been of some service to the community over here.”

Dr Lad says many of the patient’s visiting the team simply want a second opinion from doctors.

Meanwhile, the team will be providing services in Levuka today.
