Fiji’s High Commissioner to New Zealand Filimone Waqabaca has urged community leaders in Christchurch to mobilize and assist where they can.
In particular, the High Commissioner is calling on the Fijian diaspora in Christchurch and NZ to take extra caution and look after one another.
In a Facebook post, Waqabaca has also conveyed his deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims in Christchurch.
He say their thoughts are also with our brothers and sisters in the Muslim communities in Christchurch, around NZ and in the world during this unfortunate and horrific event.
He stressed where possible for the Fijian diaspora to assist members of the Muslim community who may be in need.
Fiji Embassy staff in Wellington can be reached on mobile numbers 021416148 (Josua), 021322353 (Maraia) and 021373306 (Fili) for any updates on Fijians that may have fallen victim in Christchurch.
