For the first time since the establishment of the Fijian government, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama will be open for discussions on social media on a regular basis.

Speaking on a talkback show on FBC’s sister station Radio Fiji One, Bainimarama says he will be launching a new Facebook page to speak directly to people who might have any queries about the running of the government.

Bainimarama says there are instances where civil servants spread outright lies about the affairs of the state to the people but with the new social media page, Fijians will be able to receive firsthand information.

The Prime Minister says the Government will have to take control of its own messages and don’t allow for the type of distortion created by certain news outlets or on social media.
