“We’re calling for them to step up their effort to eliminate child and forced labour and asking them to join the Global Alliance 8.7. So we’re calling on the partners working for those topics to come together in a more coordinated way to put in place more effort to meet the target.”

The Alliance 8.7 is a movement to engage countries to implement effective measures to eradicate forced labour, modern salary and human tracking.

Nishimoto says Fiji has made tremendous efforts to tackle the issues of child
labour.

The countries part of the consultation included Palau, Fiji, Marshall Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tuvalu and Cook Islands.
