Fiji’s contingent will stay another month in Vanuatu at the request of her government to continue with the rehabilitation work in the aftermath of Cyclone Pam.

The team was scheduled to have returned today.

Contingent Team Leader Manasa Tagicakibau says they received an official notification from Fiji last night.

“Actually we will be working within the emergency period of two weeks and into the initial stages of Vanuatu Rehab and reconstruction phase."

Tagicakibau is confident things will return to normality on Vanuatu especially on the island of Tanna.

“I was talking to our doctors at Tanna Island and they have reported that in the next two weeks they should complete the work that they are doing and they can handover the health work back to the Ministry of Health at Tanna Island .That shows it has moved back in its normal stages."

Tagicakibau says army engineers have completed the work they were tasked to carry out.
