Fiji trying to secure Asian Markets for sugar exports

The Fiji Sugar Corporation says Singapore is a hub for Asia and securing sugar market there first will help FSC attain other Asian markets as well.

Chief Executive, Graham Clarke says the FSC is working with brokers in Singapore to look at opportunities for export into their market.

“The taste preference in China is changing rapidly and they are moving in the direction of health consciousness, what’s happening in the developed world and the brown sugar we supply from Fiji is sort off at.”

Chair Vishnu Mohan says the FSC has already secured its newest market in China.

“Important thing is to diversify the markets and finding new markets and I am pleased to say, we are actually finding as demonstrated by shipment to China which will happen in November.”

The FSC is working on exporting sugar to the Pacific Region as well.
