Fiji to launch PCAN campaign on Friday

October 27, 2015 6:21 pm

In a pursuit to strengthen child protection awareness in Fiji, the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation will officially launch the Prevention of the Child Abuse and Neglect (PCAN) awareness campaign this Friday.

Minister Rosy Akbar will launch the campaign and announce details of how Government hopes to achieve the objectives behind it.

She points out that the campaign will be a platform that will increase Government’s reach to the public in facilitating child protection programs.

Akbar says the purpose of the launch is to share information and strengthen networks within government and non-government agencies and service providers for child protection in Fiji.

It involves a collaborative approach and consolidated effort to effectively address the issue from all aspects.

The launch is a build-up event for the commemoration of the World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse also known as Blue Ribbon Campaign, which is marked annually on the 19th of November.
