President, Major General Retired Jioji Konrote on Tuesday night attended the Japanese Emperor’s birthday celebrations in Suva.
While the occasion was to honour the reigning monarch, it was also a time to embrace diplomatic relations with Japan which has spanned several decades.
Japan’s Ambassador to Fiji, Takuji Hanatani emphasized the importance of strengthening the relationship and working together for a better world.
“The Fiji Parliament is hosting the 25th Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum to be held in mid-January next year, I congratulate Fiji for its strong leadership in international forums."
The Japanese Emperor will turn 83 on the 23rd of December.
