Fiji to get even colder weather

July 14, 2017 1:25 am

Temperatures are expected to drop further this weekend with a trough of low pressure affecting the country.

Fiji Meteorological Services Director, Ravin Kumar, says the temperatures will drop as low as 14 Degree Celsius.

“Following this trough of low pressure, we can expect the ridge to move over the group and associated with this ridge is a cool southerly wind and it is expected to spread over the group through this weekend so what we might see over the weekend is the overnight temperatures fall below 18 degrees centigrade in the coastal areas and in the inland areas we can expect temperatures to be falling below 15 degrees overnight.”

Nothing out of the ordinary, Kumar says the cold spell is experienced during Fiji’s dry season with June, July and August amongst the coolest on record.

He adds it’s advisable to keep warm with heavier clothing and hot drinks to ward of any infectious colds.
