Fiji signs coconut industry MOU with Philippines

Agriculture Minister Inia Seruiratu, and a team of senior officials recently visited Coconut Planting industries in the Philippines.

Fiji and the Philippines have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate in several aspects of the development of the Coconut Industry.

The delegation studied species development, inter-cropping alternatives and visited coconut products processing facilities.

Seruiratu and his delegation toured a modern coconut processing plant which specializes in several products for exports namely, Desiccated Coconut, Coconut Oil, Coconut Milk Powder and Banana Chips.

He says this exposure provides the Fiji Coconut Industry developers, farmers and government lessons to transition the industry into competitive exports.
