The recent leadership battle in Australia’s ruling political party will not have an impact in Fiji’s tourism sector.
A political analyst at the University of the South Pacific, Professor Greg Fry says the new Prime Minister is expected to bring change to Australia’s economy.
Professor Fry says Australia remains a rich country despite a slowdown in its economy… and Turnbull comes with a lot of experience in business.
“The reasons his colleagues voted for him in this case was because he would create a new economy. That is why Turnbull is popular because he is a merchant banker, smart businessman, his very tuned to new industries, his really wanting to look at service industries, new ways of moving away from eyeing or dependence on China – so that is the future and if he successful the economy will come back.”
Professor Fry says Fiji should remain the first choice for holiday for the Australians.
