Fiji Red Cross awaits word for Nepal aid

The Fiji Red Cross Society could soon be joining other international agencies sending assistance to earthquake stricken Nepal.

Disaster Management Coordinator, Eseroma Ledua says they’re waiting to hear back from their head office.

“We are waiting for confirmation from our International federation of Red Cross office who does the internal arrangement with national society if Nepal Red Cross needs assistance from Fiji Red Cross then we will be able to provide them assistance based on the needs identified by the Nepal Red Cross.”

The UN has launched a $415m appeal for victims of the earthquake.
More than 4000 people were killed when a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal last Saturday.
